MoneySeize

Comparing Sir Reginald MoneySeize II Esq. to Mario in Donkey Kong
Sir Reginald is a fat man with a top hat, and is the protagonist in the game MoneySeize. Similar to Mario in Donkey Kong, Sir Reginald dies in a single hit when he comes into contact with any other living thing within the game.

Controls/Movement
I found the controls in MoneySeize quite comfortable however i felt the actual movement system in game was quite hard to use. Unlike Mario, Sir Reginald has different maneuvers you can take advantage of in game which allow you to get to places you wouldn't be able to otherwise. Mechanics such as the ability to perform a double jump or the fact he can jump off walls. I felt these also added an element of skill and timing as you had to have both of these to utilise the extra mechanics efficiently and correctly. These two skills are also applicable with Mario in Donkey Kong.

Gameplay
The gameplay of MoneySeize was quite smooth and the level design was quite impressive and unique. Each level has 25 coins to collect, including hidden ones w
hich were sometimes not obvious to the eye and required you to do something within the level for them to appear. The most frustrating aspect of the game is that when you die, you lose all of the coins that you have collected inside that level and you have to start the level again. However, I really liked how different each level was to each other because it kept you interested as there was new objects and ways to get around each level.

What makes a game, a game?

Definition of a game
"A game is a rule based system with a variable and quantifiable outcome, where different outcomes,  are assigned different values, the player exerts effort in order to influence the outcome, the player feels emotionally attached to the outcome, and the consequences of the activity are negotiable."
- Jesper Juul

Tekken

Rule Based System
In tekken the rule based system is simple. The objective of the game is to K.O. your opponent by getting their health bar to 0 by utilising your fighting skills e.g punching + kicking. Furthermore, Tekken has a round based system where there can be up to 6 rounds in a game. The first to win 3 rounds (K.O your opponent 3 times wins).

Possible outcomes
There are multiple possible outcomes in a Tekken round depending on what happens during that round, if one fighter takes the other fighters health down all the way to 0 without losing any of their own health this is called a perfect. Also there are the two obvious outcomes of win and lose. There can also be a draw round if both fighters health hit 0 at the same time however this is quite rare.

Effort
The user can exert effort in many ways in Tekken. The most basic way is using combos to hit their opponent, so instead of just punching and kicking the user can learn a combination of many punches and kicks to pull of a combo which is more effective than just punching and kicking normally. Also the user can dodge and block incoming attacks from their opponent if they time it right. Moreover users can 'juggle' their opponent in the air which means hitting the enemy fighter in the air without letting them touch the ground.

Emotions
Users can feel many emotions when playing Tekken. From fun to pure rage when they lose a match that they were so close to winning. Tension also when certain fighters come up against each other who are rivals or have fallen out in the storyline. Joy when the player gets a perfect on all 3 rounds of the fight.

Consequences
To win bragging rights, become world champion, win money, win sponsorships, get the best character gear, wager matches
